Manhattanhenge
Manhattanhenge, also known as the Manhattan Solstice, is a captivating event in which the setting or rising sun aligns precisely with the east-west streets of Manhattan, New York City. Coined by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, it draws parallels to the alignment of Stonehenge. Occurring twice a year around the summer and winter solstices, the phenomenon is a result of Manhattan’s urban canyons and its grid system, which is rotated 29° clockwise from true east-west. Streets like 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, and 57th align perfectly with the striking view of Manhattanhenge.
