National AFM (Acute Flaccid Myelitis) Awareness Day is observed on the first Wednesday of August to increase public awareness of AFM, a rare but serious neurological condition that affects the spinal cord and can cause muscle weakness or paralysis. The day aims to educate people about the signs and symptoms of AFM and to support research efforts towards finding a cure.
