National Black America’s Day of Repentance is observed annually on June 18th. Established in April 2021 by Yvonne Roberson, this day is dedicated to fasting, prayer, repentance, and atonement of sins within the Black American community. The observance aims to promote healing in body, soul, and spirit, individually and collectively. Participants are encouraged to fast from dawn until sundown, abstaining from food, drink, sexual activity, alcohol, and non-prescription drugs. Limited use of electronics and work is also recommended. Exceptions are made for pregnant and nursing mothers, the ill, and young children. The fast concludes with thanksgiving, praise to God, and a light meal.
