National French Dip Day is an annual celebration held on November 12th that honors the iconic American sandwich, the French Dip. It consists of thinly sliced beef or pork served on a soft roll, accompanied by a cup of au jus (juices from the meat) for dipping. The origin of the sandwich is disputed, but it is believed to have been invented in either Los Angeles or San Francisco in the early 20th century.
